Ewan lined up for Greenpeace movie role
Ewan could soon be putting on waterproofs and wellies to play an anti-whaling captain.
Ewan is rumoured to have been cast to play Paul Watson, who is currently making life difficult for the Japanese whaling fleet in the Antarctic.
The movie will cover Watson's early days as a Greenpeace campaigner and tell how he went on to found the Sea Shepherd Conservation Society.
Watson revealed: "The making of this movie has been a project in Hollywood since 1981, when Tony Bill firrst bought the rights from me for Warner Brothers.
"Over the years, a number of actors have requested to play my part, including Sean Penn, Christian Bale, Heath Ledger, Aidan Quinn and Clive Owen. As of now it looks like Ewan McGregor.
"I think he'll do a good job, although I would love to see long-time Sea Shepherd supporter Christian Bale take the part.
"As for a leading lady, my favourite actress has always been Sophie Marceau, but the choice is not mine."
