Two million children suffer extreme poverty in Peru
The early development – first five years – of a child’s life can have a huge impact on its physical and mental development into adulthood. Given the chance to grow and to learn, most children will thrive, but if this right is denied children’s lives can be stunted or cut short. In the poorest areas of Peru, infants are being denied the nourishment, shelter, education and protection to give them a proper start in life. Six out of ten children in Peru continue to live in poverty and over two million children suffer under extreme poverty.
